Hold On by Wilson Phillips
I got a little bogged down on this one. I’m this age of Apple Music and YouTube it’s rare for me to ever listen to a whole album. When I was trying to come up with a song for this entry, in my head I imagined a favorite album as one you could play and enjoy every song from beginning to end. I didn’t want to use any albums from musicals because listening to those from start to finish are really like listening to a story being told instead of a a random sampling of that artist grouped in a set for public consumption. I didn’t want to use a greatest hits collection because that’s cheating. Those are already tried and proven songs grouped in a set. Yes, I know, I way overthought this one, and in doing so made me go way back to the days of cassettes and long car trips.
I landed on Wilson Phillips first album because it satisfied the crazy criteria I came up with. I know I wore out at least 2 and maybe 3 cassettes of this album back then before switching to a cd. Even today several of the songs get regular play in my collection. I guess it works.
